Thailand may petition to the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU)—which includes Armenia, Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan—with a proposal for signing an agreement on a free trade zone.

The Russian Minister of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov, informed the aforesaid at the meeting of the Russian-Thai commission on bilateral cooperation.

“The Thai side’s [respective] petition (…) could be an important step on the road to expanding trade and economic cooperation,” added the minister.

Manturov also noted that, in case of an increase in aircraft-delivered supplies, Russia may even consider the option of opening a regional center in Thailand.
