WASHINGTON, D.C. – The parties to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict need to confirm their commitment to achieve progress in a peaceful resolution to this conflict.

The United States (US) Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Eric Rubin—who is responsible for issues related to Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and regional conflicts in Europe—, noted the aforesaid speaking at The Brookings Institution—an American think tank based in Washington, D.C.

Rubin stressed that there is no alternative to a pacific resolution of the Karabakh conflict, informed the Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter in Washington D.C.

The senior US diplomat added that his country hopes that, despite the difficulties, the conflicting parties will confirm their aspiration to achieve peace.

In Eric Rubin’s words, the US, together with the other OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries (Russia, and France), will continue assisting in achieving a peaceful resolution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. As per the US State Department official, the co-chairing countries’ efforts to prevent an escalation of the conflict are especially important.
