YEREVAN. – The Government of Armenia has fulfilled the promise it had made to the workers of the Nairit Chemical Factory in capital city Yerevan.

Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan stated about the aforesaid at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting. He added, however, that now is unclear why these people are complaining again. He asked the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Yervand Zakharyan, to provide a respective explanation.

During a recent meeting with the employees of this plant, an agreement was reached to pay off the workers’ salary debt, which totals 5 billion 310 million drams (approx. US$11,087,500).

“Now, we are able to pay that amount, but the workers complain about the calculation. At present, it is being cleared; I believe we will finish in two to three days.

“Certain delays may occur during documentation; the process may take ten to fifteen days. But once the batch of documents is prepared, the salary will be paid in groups,” said Zakharyan.
