YEREVAN. - During the session of the Executive body of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), President Serzh Sargsyan said that after the reforms in the Constitution he will not become Parliament Speaker, Davit Harutyunyan, Chief of Government and minister, told Armenian News – NEWS.am on Thursday.
According to him, the president had earlier stated that after his second term as a president he will not seek for the office of prime minister or president.
“The new Constitution refuted the opinion that the current President is resolving the issue of reclaiming his authority. Even if we don’t speak of the previous political statement of the president – that he will not seek for the office of the president or prime-minister - today he stated specially for those who doubt that he will not, of course, take the office of the Parliament Speaker either. Apparently, this isn’t indicative of the wish to reclaim authority,” Haruyunyan said.
