YEREVAN. – The Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations of Armenia received a report on Friday at 1:15am.

Accordingly, a traffic accident had occurred in Ijevan city of the Tavush Province, and rescuers were needed.

A fire and rescue squad was dispatched to the scene.

It was found out that a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a Lada Niva jeep had collided on the Yerevan-Ijevan motorway, and for yet unknown reasons.

Prior to the fire and rescue workers’ arrival at the scene, however, Niva driver A. A. and passenger S. M. were removed from the vehicle and taken to the Ijevan medical center by local efforts. 

A. A., however, died en route to hospital.

According to doctors, S. M., on the other hand, is in satisfactory condition.
