YEREVAN. – The Prime Minister of Armenia, Hovik Abrahamyan, on Wednesday attended the launch of a project titled “Long-term (up to 2036) Development Perspectives for Energy System of the Republic of Armenia.”

Abrahamyan also delivered remarks at the event.

The PM noted that the Government of Armenia is firmly committed to implementing new reforms in the energy sector of the country.

But the Premier added that, sadly, Armenia’s energy system is in a difficult financial situation in recent years, but this has several objective reasons. As per Abrahamyan these factors are the global economic crisis, inflationary phenomena, exchange rate fluctuations, and adverse weather conditions.

In the PM’s words, however, work is carried out to improve the energy system of Armenia. He also expressed the hope that these measures will have a positive impact in a short jump of time.

In addition, Hovik Abrahamyan expressed confidence that the respective debates will result in a number of useful recommendations, which the Government of Armenia will be willing to consider.
