YEREVAN. – Until the year 2030, the water supply system of Armenia will need 2.4 times more revenue.
The aforementioned is said in the funding plan for the country’s water supply until 2030, and which the government approved at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting.
The reason for the need for these additional earnings is the servicing of loans that were spent on the modernization of Armenia’s water supply. As a result, the loan burden will increase by more than ten times.
Since the grace periods for these loans are coming to an end—primarily in the current year, the period for returning the primary amounts is beginning.
In 2030, the servicing of loans will make up 48 percent of the cost price of water supply in the country.
From the five water supply operators in Armenia, it is solely Yerevan Djur Company of the capital city that operates with a profit.
