Muhammad is the most popular name in England and Wales.

When spelling alternatives including Mohammed, Muhamad and Muhammet were combined, Muhammad overhauled Oliver as the national favorite boys’ name, reported the Daily Express.

To note, Muhammad is the most popular name in England and Wales for the second year running

The data, released by the Office of National Statistics, revealed that 6,649 boys born in England and Wales in 2014 were called Oliver, whereas 5,327 girls were named Amelia.

There were also 3,588 Muhammads, 2,536 Mohammeds and 1,116 Mohammads – a total of 7,240 baby boys.

Other popular boys’ names were Jack, Harry, Charlie, Thomas and George, whereas Olivia, Isla, Emily and Poppy were among the most popular names for girls.
