The number of Christians in China is growing rapidly.

According to the data by American sociologist Rodney Stark, in the case when 10 million Christians were recorded in the country in 1980, this number has reached about 100 million in 2014.

The number of the followers of Christ in China increases by 7 percent every year, reported the Catholic News Agency (CNA).

These Chinese converts include educated people who are no longer satisfied with the traditional Chinese philosophical and religious teachings because, in their view, these teachings do not enable to adapt to the extent necessary to life in the contemporary world, Stark noted.

In his words, however, those Chinese that adopt Christianity are primarily from the country’s villages, where societal ties are stronger, reported Interfax news agency.
