The earthquake, which was felt in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR; Artsakh) early Friday morning, has caused no damage.

The NKR Ministry Emergency Situations of informed about the above-said to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The ministry representative also stated that the quake was felt strongest in the Martuni Region, since it is the closest to the Azerbaijani city of Sheki, the epicenter of the tremor.

“Our instruments registered magnitude 4,” said the ministry representative. “Fortunately, there is no damage; people just felt it.”

As reported earlier, a 5.2-5.3-magnitude earthquake was recorded in Azerbaijan on Friday at 8.49am local time, and it was felt in Nagorno-Karabakh, too. 

The “Survey for Seismic Protection” Agency of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations of Armenia informed about the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

It added that the epicenter of the tremor was the Azerbaijani city of Sheki, where it was felt 7-8 magnitude.

“The quake was felt in Artsakh, with preliminary magnitude 4, [and] in [Armenia’s capital city of] Yerevan, with magnitude 3,” said the agency representatives.

The seismic activity in Azerbaijan was felt in several other settlements in Armenia—Vanadzor, Stepanavan, Kapan, Ijevan, Noyemberyan, Choratan, and Aygedzor.
