YEREVAN. - Participants of the first Armenian LGBT forum held in Lori province on October 17-18 are not insured from the attacks of intolerant citizens. PINK Armenia representative Nvard Margaryan told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am, noting that the intolerance and hatred towards homosexuals among Armenians is unlikely to ever disappear completely, but the treatment will change.

According to the PINK Armenia President, homosexuals in Armenia have to face various issues due to the negative treatment of the society.

Margaryan says it’s not the first time calls have been made to “eliminate” the homosexuals. PINK Armenia has even turned to the Prosecutor General’s office several times over the offensive comments, but the complaints were never processed.

She explains the negative stereotypes about homosexuals by the lack of awareness.

“It’s due to the information gap that these stereotypes don’t disappear, but go deeper,” Margaryan said.

She also said that no LGBT forums are planned in Armenia in the future.

During the first forum the participants drew out strategic steps for solving the issues they face, but they declined to voice them.

The first Armenian LGBT forum entitled “Rainbow” was held in Armenia’s Lori province upon the initiative of PINK Armenia on October 17-18.
