Olivia Farnsworth, 7, who lives in Britain, feels no pain, and barely sleeps and eats. Doctors say this is due to deletion of chromosome 6: the girl lacks part of the genetic information which should have been present in her, Gazeta reports, citing The Daily mail.
Olivia first grabbed the attention of doctors when the girl's mother brought her to hospital after the child was hit by a car. However, Olivia didn't cry and seemed to not understand what had happened: she merely stood up and walked back.
“She got run over and dragged down the street by a car and she didn't complain. She was dragged about ten car lengths down the road. It was horrendous, I don't think it's something I will ever get over. I was screaming and all my other children were screaming as she ran out. But Olivia was just like, ''What's going on?''. She just got up and started walking back to me,” the girl's mother said.
The child suffered no serious injuries, but didn't feel pain either.
The inability to feel pain is one of the consequences of chromosome 6 deletion. However Olivia is most likely to be the only man in the world who suffers from three possible consequences: she actually doesn't eat and can stay awake for three days in a row.
The girl's mother said the symptoms appeared when she was only several months old: Olivia never cried and stopped sleeping in the day from the age of nine months.
