YEREVAN. - Yerevan’s Shengavit Medical Center doctor Shushanik Bakhshyan, who is a suspect in the death of teh maternity patient Meri Margaryan, will continue to work unless the court decision comes out. Deputy Director of Shengavit Medical Center David Mkhitaryan told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am correspondent.

“We can’t fire [her] and won’t do that unless the court decision is out. Under such circumstances we have no right to change [her] status,” Mkhitaryan said.

The representative of the affected party’s successor in Meri Margaryan’s case moved for establishing the circle of the guilty, filing an arraignment and selecting a preventive measure.  According to attorney Marine Tovmasyan, they won’t restrict themselves to the detention of Shushanik Bakhshyan, since there are doctors, the issue on whose responsibility should be raised.  

Meri Margaryan, who was transferred from the Shengavit medical center on July 27, 2015, died on July 29 in “Erebouni” Medical Center, where she had delivered a baby through Caesarean section. But, subsequently, she was in very critical condition, and the woman passed away two days later. Even though her baby girl’s life was saved, she was in critical condition, and the newborn died on July 30.

On August 3, a criminal case was launched on charges of not—or improperly—performing medical duties, and which has negligently caused a patient’s death, or human infection with the immunodeficiency virus.
