The sudden inspection of combat-readiness in Southern Military District (SMD) of the Russian Armed Forces showed the high qualification level of the military personnel.

SMD commander Alexander Galkin said the aforementioned at the solemn event held in Rostov-on-Don on occasion of the Homeland Defender’s Day.

“The inspection showed the high qualification level of personnel assets, technical readiness, as well as the full strength of the military units of military installations,” Galkin said.

He also added that during the military exercises, the SMD servicemen’s readiness to crisis situations – struggle against terrorist threats and neutralization of natural and manmade disasters - was assessed, RIA Novosti reports. 

On February 8, surprise inspections began in all military bases of the SMD of the Russian Armed Forces, including in the 102nd Russian Military Base in Gyumri, Armenia.
