YEREVAN. – The small and medium-sized businesses in Armenia need technical support by the state.

Head of the Eurasia Competitiveness Programme at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Antonio Somma, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In his words, even though there are several infrastructural challenges for businesses in Armenia, the country needs to work more on the exporting of Armenian products and to boost their domestic demand.

As per Somma, it is also indispensable to help the local small and medium-sized entrepreneurs learn about job opportunities abroad, and to assist them in developing business plans and finding funding, since business enterprises cannot surmount all these on their own, and therefore a respective thematic state support is needed.

The OECD official added that the Armenian state needs to conduct training programs on quality standards, and invite foreign organizations for exchange of know-how.
