According to official data, Armenia’s foreign trade in January dropped by 13.8 percent, exports increased by 5.6 percent, whereas imports decreased by 22.2 percent, on an annual basis.

This notwithstanding, the major disproportion is maintained in the country’s foreign trade. Imports exceeded exports by more than 1.7 times, in the specified month.

But the export growth in January is due to the low indicator last year. So it is more of a regress than a progress in Armenia, in terms of exports, and the same applies to imports.

Armenia’s mutual trade with the other Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) member countries is very low, except for with Russia.

To note, there is such a disproportion in the other EEU countries as well, and Russia has the “monopoly” in this organization.

The EEU member countries are Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
