Over 100 vehicles were involved in a series of accidents in North Carolina on the evening of March14, local mass media reported.

According to preliminary data, as a result of a series of wrecks about 20 people were injured. No casualties have been reported, BBC Russian service reported.

The exact reasons of the incident have not been determined yet. It is reported that the first collisions could have occurred due to slippery roads, and then chain reaction began.

The highway where collision occurred had to be closed for several hours. The highway traffic has been restored.
