Passenger plane Embraer 170 of American Airlines made an emergency landing in New York after being hit by lightning.
There were 55 passengers and four crew members on board the plane flying from North Carolina to new York.
It was originally planned that the aircraft would land at the New York La Guardia airport, but because of the incident, he was redirected to the airport of John Kennedy, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported.
The distance between the two airports is about 13 km, TASS mentioned.
As a result of landing nobody was hurt. One of the passengers told reporters that the people inside heard a loud sound similar to an explosion and saw a bright flash.
