YEREVAN. – The Europeans are trying to show tolerance towards Turkey, and this will lead to disaster, ruling Republican Party of Armenia MP Manvel Badeyan said at a press conference on Tuesday.

Reflecting on Russian-Turkish relations, the Armenian deputy noted that Russia and Turkey are regional competitors, and they are endeavoring to strengthen their influence.

“All attempts of cooperation between Russia and Turkey have failed, since a fundamental incompatibility exists [between them] from the viewpoint of [their] mentality and religious values, alike,” Badeyan noted. “[And] all this leads to the intensification of clashes [between them].”

The Armenian MP, however, does not agree with the view that Turkey does not conduct independent policy.

“Turkey uses the ‘Trojan Horse’ tactics in an attempt to enter both the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union [which includes Armenia],” Manvel Badeyan added.
