Recently we introduced considerable amendments to our Constitution. In this sense, the next one and a half to two years will be crucial, since our country is undergoing a systemic change. 

President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, who is on a working visit to the US, on Tuesday stated the aforesaid during his address at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Sargsyan expressed confidence that this work will be productive and visible for the Armenian people.

“Its pledge is not only our political will, but also Armenia’s citizen—proactive, striving, devoted to the homeland,” the President specifically noted. “This year the Republic of Armenia entered its quarter-century of independence, passing a complicated and difficult road of development. (…) All this, together with our non-rich natural resources, have limited the prospects for the development of our country. But they also have enabled to build a state anchored in a democratic system and knowledge-based economy.

“Yes, our neighbors have closed our territorial boundaries, but they could not limit our thought process. Natural resources have a tendency to be exhausted, whereas the human [resources]—to reproduce.”
