The ODIHR/OSCE reports on elections in Armenia are intended to strengthen cooperation to help improve election practices, Mr David Gullette, Democratization officer at the OSCE office in Yerevan, told Wednesday at the presentation of Germany’s presidency in the OSCE in 2016.

Answering a question on why front-runner reports, immediately after elections, are milder in their statements than later post-election analyses, which are more profound and critical, Gullette said:

“Much of what these reports do is in the vein of discussion. Shutting down dialogue will not get very far. Of course there are areas that could be improved in any country, including those which are running elections this year. There are always areas that could be strengthened and maintained in another manner than today. There are efforts, and mot results, that need to be considered in this light, which doesn’t mean things could be no different”.
