The EU has slammed Ankara for summoning the German envoy, who sang a satirical song about the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during a TV show, Gazeta reports, citing Reuters.

“This move doesn't seem to be in line with upholding the freedom of the press and freedom expression, which are values the EU cherishes a lot," EU Commission Deputy Chief Spokesperson Mina Andreeva said.

It was also noted that this hinders the discussion on Turkey’s help in migrant crisis.

The two-minute video of the satire on Erdoğan was broadcast by German NDR TV channel on March 17.
