Ambassadors of UNESCO will hold a meeting on April 4, which will be devoted to the reconstruction of Palmyra, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoi said, RIA Novosti reported.

He emphasized that in spite of the fact that Palmyra is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is part of the Syrian culture, and any actions can be carried out only with the permission and the invitation of the government.

Earlier, the Syrian army commanders officially announced liberating Palmyra from ISIS militants supported by the national aviation and Russian air forces on Sunday. The ancient ruins of Palmyra is one of six UNESCO World Heritage sites in Syria; the city has been under control of terrorists since last May.
