Modern Diplomacy Development Fund jointly with “Noyyan Tapan” publishing house has come up with a new initiative entitled “Armenians for Prosperous Abkhazia”.

According to the Fund President, Amram Petrosyan, the Armenians all over the world closely follow the situation in Abkhazia.  “This relates to all the spheres of vital activity, from security ensurance to social progress and economic prosperity. The reason is clear: the history of Abkhaz and Armenian people is intertwined by ties of centuries-old friendship and nobody can say that the Abkhaz people have disrupted this friendship,” Petrosyan stressed.

According to him, the presence of the Armenian church and various schools in Abkhazia, as well as the respect toward the Armenian traditions and values comes to prove this.

In Petrosyan’s words, the people of prosperous, powerful and courageous Abkhazia deserve their right to independence and own statehood.  “During the years of struggle for independence, the Armenians stood by the Abkhaz people. We would very much like Abkhazia and its people to prosper. We will work with the civil society and leadership of Abkhazia to implement informational, educational, scientific, economic and cultural projects. I’m sure that the friendship and brotherhood of the Abkhaz and Armenian peoples will get stronger. I have many friends and relatives in Abkhazia.  In hard times, the Abkhaz people hosted Armenians and gave them an opportunity to start a new life.  Now we, Armenians, must give a similar response. I publicly address the international Armenian Diaspora and urge them to provide comprehensive support to Abkhazia.  There are many politicians, academics, artists, entrepreneurs and financiers among us. It won’t be hard for us to direct all the possible resources to Abkhazia for its further development and improvement of living conditions. Our help to Abkhazia is an act of generosity and wisdom,” Petrosyan said, Novostnik.ru reports.
