Hungarian version of Franz Werfel’s “The Forty Days of Musa Dagh” has been republished for the 9th time thanks to the funding of the Armenian National Autonomy of Hungary.

The Deputy Head of the Autonomy, Alex Avanesian, told Armenian News – NEWS.am that he has published the book in Hungarian for the second time.

“Franz Werfel’s book is known to everyone. It was first published in 1933. During this entire period the book has been published in Hungary for nine times. The second-to-last time, in 1997, I published it again. The book has been published in 2500 copies,” Avanesian said.

The Hungarian Armenian community had decided to republish the book in symbolic 100 copies ahead of the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. “A selected copy of the book was republished: the content is the same, but the cover is vitrified. There is an artist in Hungary who makes Armenian sketches and miniatures on glass. We decided that she should paint the miniatures on the covers”, he added.

The authors plan to donate the 100 copies of the book to the museums and libraries in Armenia and Hungary.
