At a time of collapsing oil prices and budgetary pressure on Azerbaijan the last thing its government should be entertaining is a military solution to its claims over Nagorno-Karabakh.

The European Parliament MP from European Conservatives and Reformists Group, Charles Tannock, told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am.

In his words, the death of the 12-year-old boy is tragic. In this connection, the MP offered his condolences to his bereaved family.

"I deeply regret the most recent outbreak of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh where the situation has been gradually worsening over the last 6 months but has dramatically risen in the last few days with not just the use of snipers by Azerbaijan but allegedly very dangerous escalation by its use of tanks, artillery and aircraft. I call upon all sides to respect the Minsk process, immediately desist from any further escalation and return to the negotiating table,” Tannock said.

As reported earlier, the adversary has launched outright offensive operations along the Line of Contact between the Karabakh-Azerbaijani opposing forces, on late Friday night and early Saturday morning hours, using a variety of weaponry as well as artillery, armored vehicles, and air force. A 12-year-old Armenian boy was killed and two other children were wounded in the Azerbaijani missile and shelling attack toward peaceful Karabakh settlements. According to the preliminary information, the Armenian Armed Forces have downed two Azerbaijani helicopters and two drones, also destroying three tanks.
