YEREVAN. - Armenia is ready to any developments, even direct military support for the protection of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) if need rises.
Deputy Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan said the aforementioned today at a meeting with the foreign attaches accredited in Armenia.
The Defense Ministry representatives told Armenian News – NEWS.am that the participants were briefed on the situation on the Contact Line between the Armenian and Azerbaijani opposing forces. Besides, the possible reasons of Azerbaijan's aggression and the latter's expectations in this regard were discussed.
In his speech, Tonoyan noted that Armenia is ready to any developments, even direct military support for the protection of the Karabakh if need rises.
By the end of the meeting, the Deputy Minister responded to the attendees' questions.
The situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone dramatically escalated on Saturday night. From regular shootings and frequent sabotage-reconnaissance attempts, Azerbaijan has now shifted to large-scale attack all along the Line of Contact, using a variety of weaponry as well as artillery, armored vehicles, and air force. Both sides have suffered losses.
