YEREVAN. – Germany, as the country chairing the OSCE, feels the responsibility for the solution to the Karabakh conflict, supports the OSCE Minsk Group, German Chancellor Angela Merkel announced during a joint press conference with President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan in Berlin on Wednesday.

The chancellor noted that they had discussed the issue of the Karabakh conflict. Serzh Sargsyan presented the situation “that is deeply worrying”.

According to her, the OSCE Minsk Group seeks to prevent escalation and to return to the observance of the ceasefire regime and the negotiation process as soon as possible.

Angela Merkel also mentioned that the OSCE Minsk Group had achieved little progress in this regard in recent years. Germany wants to show a constructive approach, the Chancellor added.
