The Green Party of Austria has urged the country’s MFA to immediately come up with mediation in the normalization of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and adequately contribute to the peaceful process.
In the call addressed to the Austrian FM Kurz, the party spokesperson Tanja Windbüchle noted: “If the Austrian government attaches importance to the Black Sea region, it should also be ready to assume the role of special mediator to achieve peace.
The OSCE Minsk Group should now be immediately invited to Vienna and joint work should be carried out to find solutions, while Austria must support the mediation mission of the group.
It’s important for Nagorno-Karabakh not to become hostage of the confrontation between Russia and Turkey. For this reason the OSCE corresponds to the role of mediator. The solutions to maintaining peace in the region used to be proposed in this very framework before. And the discussions should be continued. Maintaining the ceasefire should be the primary issue. Certainly, it’s also important to continue the process aimed at establishing long-term peace in the region, which should result in the recognition of Karabakh, something that Armenia demands for years.”
