YEREVAN. – The international monitoring on the line of contact is necessary for progress in negotiations with the Azerbaijani side, head of ARF Dashnaktsutyun faction Armen Rustamyan said at traditional briefings in National Assembly on Friday.

He added that ARFD, he has always stood for peaceful monitoring which will allow to control observance of ceasefire in the region better than it is done now.

Rustamyan mentioned that they had always supported such control as an internationally accepted method, but in order not to be mere ink on paper, there have to be mechanisms of its implementation.

He added that ARF had proposed to install modern equipment on the line of contact that will allow to register who is responsible for breaching ceasefire. Azerbaijan has always rejected the proposal for one reason: the current line of contact will be somehow fixed.

According to the representative of ARFD, for this reason Baku wanted to change the status quo and continues voicing accusations of the OSCE Minsk Group.
