If the situation worsens, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) stands ready to hold a new special session on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier told RIA Novosti news agency of Russia.

“We had a special meeting on Monday,” he noted. “The [OSCE] Permanent Council holds meetings every week and discusses all issues. Yesterday [i.e. Thursday], the Permanent Council discussed the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, and we will discuss it next week, too.”

Zannier stated that the OSCE Permanent Council’s new special session, and with the participation of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, will be convened “when they return” from the region.

“Of course, if the situation there takes a turn for the worse, we shall hold a special session,” the OSCE secretary general added. “Otherwise, we have not yet planned anything until the return of the co-chairs.”
