YEREVAN. - Armenian Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan today met with the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs James Warlick, Igor Popov and Pierre Andrieu. The meeting was also attended by the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk.

The meeting addressed the large-scale offensive operations unleashed by Azerbaijan against Nagorno-Karabakh in the recent days, as well as the possible developments, the Defense Ministry press-service reports.

Upon the request of the interlocutors, Minister Ohanyan touched on the military actions on the Line of Contact between Karabakh and Azerbaijani opposing forces, as well as the ensuing situation. Ohanyan drew the Co-Chairs’ attention to the main peculiarities of the apparent aggression of the Azerbaijani side, including the crimes committed by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces against the Armenian servicemen and civilians, as well as the gross violations of other provisions of humanitarian law.

According to Ohanyan, the heroic and skillful actions of the Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Army ensured the complete suppression of Azerbaijan’s military aggression and prevention of the adversary’s further actions.

It was also stressed that Armenia, despite its accurate choice of targets and readiness to occupy new favorable positions for suppressing the adversary, continues to rely on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict through talks.  Ohanyan underscored the imperative importance of ceasefire through a legally binding agreement as a precondition for weakening the armed stand-off.
