The armed forces of Azerbaijan have committed an unacceptable violence against the civilian population of the Nagorno-Karabakh – women, children and elderly people.
PACE’s French MP François Rochebloine , who is also the member of the European Peoples’ Party (EPP), stated the aforementioned Tuesday in the framework of the second spring working meeting of PACE.
According to the MP, for a certain period the world watched the clashes on the Line of Contact with the Nagorno-Karabakh. “Many tragic incidents were often interrupted by the words of President Aliyev - words, which revealed his wish to violate the ceasefire in place since 1994. Finally, he did this. The armed forces of Azerbaijan launched an attack in the north of Nagorno-Karabakh. The killed and wounded among the soldiers, who resisted them, weren’t enough for them; they also committed unacceptable violence against the civilian population – women, children and elderly people,” Rochebloine said.
In his words, many of them were mutilated. “Therein lies what Aliyev dared to call “re-occupation”. What can be expected from such a leader? Mr Aliyev and his regime are so afraid of the truth that they violate the right to freedom of expression by all possible means. They pose a threat to the security of this part of the world,” the French MP stressed.
The restoration of peace in Nagorno-Karabakh is a significant necessity and the decisive actions must be taken to achieve this goal, Rochebloine concluded.
