YEREVAN. -- A number of countries do not acknowledge the Armenian Genocide as they are concerned with their relationship with Turkey, William Schabas said to Armenian News - NEWS.am. William Schabas is a well-known expert in the field of international law and genocide who visited Yerevan to participate in a global forum Against Crime of Genocide.

"The Armenian Genocide should be acknowledged at the international level . It is difficult to ensure that it will be acknowledged at the legal level in all the countries. Not because they do not know what happened in 1915, but because of their concerns with Turkey’s relationship. We must continue our struggle" said Schabas .

 “We should not forget that there are people who acknowledge the genocide in Turkey . The issue is that it is hard for the Turkish government to acknowledge the fact of the genocide” , he added .

"When we achieve that everything what had happened will be considered a crime against humanity , then, I think, it is possible that Turkey will acknowledge it " , concluded the expert .
