YEREVAN. - Unless the Armenian Genocide is recognized, its survivors and their heirs will continue to remain in the status of crime victims, Armenian FM Edward Nalbandian said in his closing speech at II Global Forum Against the Crime of Genocide in Yerevan.  

In his words, the forum has turned into an important format of struggle for the prevention of genocides. “Due to the collective and united efforts of the Armenian people, and also with the support of the international community, the Armenian Genocide has gained global recognition,” Nalbandian said.

The FM also noted that the forum identified issues that often “remained in the shadow”

Apart from this, Nalbandian expressed satisfaction with the positive inclinations in the Turkish society towards refusing the denial.  He especially underscored all the campaigns held in Turkey under the slogan “1.5 million plus one” since the assassination of the Armenian-Turkish journalist Hrant Dink.

Nevertheless, the position of the Turkish leadership continues to differ from the approaches of the Turkish progressive youth, the Armenian FM noted.
