MOSCOW. - Armenian Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan, who is attending the Fifth Moscow Conference on International Security, met with his Serbian counterpart Zoran Đorđević Wednesday.  

Issues on the Armenian-Serbian cooperation in the area of defense were discussed at the meeting, Armenian Defense Ministry press-service reports. Besides, the Armenian and Serbian Defense Ministers conferred on the terms of signing an intergovernmental cooperation agreement in the sphere of defense, agreed between the sides to ensure the legal framework of cooperation in implementing the plans in different directions: peacekeeping, military and technical, research, military-medical, military and educational spheres.

The Serbian Defense Minister invited his Armenian counterpart to officially visit Belgrade. The agreement may be signed in the framework of the visit.

The meeting also addressed issues related to the situation emerged on the Karabakh-Azerbaijani Line of Contact. Ohanyan briefed Đorđević on the large-scale offensive unleashed by Azerbaijan against Karabakh, as well as the situation on the Line of Contact. The sides expressed concern in connection with the escalation of the situation, underscoring the importance of mitigating the tension and creating a climate of mutual trust.
