YEREVAN. – Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian, who is in Paris on a working visit, met with Jean Bizet, President of the Committee for European Affairs of the French Senate.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that they discussed the efforts toward addressing the consequences of the large-scale military actions which Azerbaijan had unleashed against Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) in early April, and the opportunities for resuming the Karabakh peace talks. In this connection, Nalbandian underscored Bizet’s respective targeted statement. They also stressed the need for the introduction of a mechanism to investigate incidents.

In addition, the interlocutors reflected on Armenia-European Union (EU) relations, the negotiations regarding a new legal basis for cooperation, and the start of the discourse toward visa liberalization.

On the same day, Edward Nalbandian also met with members of the French Senate and National Assembly friendship groups with the parliament of Armenia, and they conferred on the avenues for the development of Armenian-French relations.

The main topic of the talk, however, was the ways for addressing the consequences of the most recent Azerbaijani aggression against Artsakh. Nalbandian briefed the French parliamentarians on the respective efforts by Armenia and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group Co-Chairs.

They also reflected on the developments in the Middle East, fight against terrorism, and the refugee crisis.
