About 14 thousand hackers tried to break into the US defense computer systems during the extensive seminars on cyber security. The Pentagon program entitled "Hack the Pentagon " started in the second half of April and ended last week, reported the US military department spokesperson Peter Cook .

According to Cook, the seminars were attended by the US citizens on a voluntary basis. They have allowed to identify weak parts of the Pentagon 's computer system and take countermeasures to protect the system. The training allowed Pentagon to focus on things that otherwise the domestic employees could not notice, explained the spokesman.

He also noted that the results of training where hackers were implementing the tasks of breaking certain websites of the US Department of Defense will not be published for obvious reasons.
