Wild wolves could have fled from Sweden to Norway, The Local reports.

Every year Sweden's Environmental Protection Agency studies the population of wild animals and counts the number of wolves, bears, lynxes and wolverines in the country. As a result, Sweden's population of wolves turned out to have dropped by 20 percent as compared to 2015. According to the experts’ estimates, about 240 such predators currently live in the country’s territory.

As per the experts, the number of wolves in Sweden is declining as a result of licensed hunting and natural factors.  Earlier, the number of wolves, bears, lynxes and wolverines grew in the country. Thus, the Agency recommended that the wolf population be kept down through regulated hunting, a topic which sparked heated debates in Sweden.   

The information on the number of wild wolf population was publicized in Norway Wednesday. The number of predators turned out to have doubled in the country. The article asks whether the wolves have fled from Sweden to Norway, Gazeta reports.
