The pyramid of Cheops or the Great Pyramid of Giza have unequal sides of the base. Scientists under the leadership of engineer Glen Dash and Egyptologist Mark Lehner were the first who succeeded to measure the difference between the lateral sides of the base. The research is published in the Aeragram journal.

Dash stated that the  base is not quite a square. Scientists said that the difference in the current length of the sides is partly connected with the lack of some limestone slabs with which the pyramid was covered during the construction.  Finding prints from once removed limestone slabs, scientists calculated that the length of the eastern base of the pyramid in the construction was 230,30-230,37 meters and the western side - 755,83-756,02 meters, thus, on average the western side was 14 centimeters longer than the eastern.

Despite this, the researchers mentioned the accuracy with which the basis of the pyramid was constructed more than 4500 years ago. The authors of the work stated that the data show that the Egyptians possessed excellent experience for the time, Gazeta reported.
