The thinnest tower in the world, the British i360, which was functioning  since August 2016 , is currently closed for visitors. No one is allowed get up to the observation pod, after it broke down twice, trapping the visitors, reports the BBC.

The entrance of the visitors in Brighton stopped on Sunday, September 11. Earlier, on the same day, 200 people had to stay in mid-air for an hour due to problems with the doors sensors.

On Thursday, September 8, about 180 people who attended the i360 opening event were closed for two hours in the tower. Among the participants there was a pregnant woman. The tower management promised to compensate tower tickets already sold or offer alternative days of the visit. Currently , experts are checking the technical condition of the tower .

The i360 is of 162 meters’ height with a diameter of at least 4 meters. It  was built by the architectural bureau Marks Barfield Architects , who built the London Eye. The ticket price for getting to 138 meters observation platform is 5 pounds ( about $ 7).
