The French FM Jean-Marc Ayrault called the robbery of American reality TV star Kim Kardashian in Paris scandalous and shocking. However, he urged to refrain from political speculations, RIA Novosti reports.

“What happened is shocking and the first to be shocked is, of course, herself. Yes, this is cruel and scandalous.  Nevertheless, it is incorrect to use this topic for political purposes,” Ayrault said on TV5Monde. He also stressed that after the terrorist acts, the French authorities have mobilized all their forces to ensure the security of their citizens and tourists arriving in the country.

Earlier, responding to the criticism from the opposition, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo also stated that the security in the capital is ensured at a proper level, but Kardashian's robbery was an exceptional case, which happened in a private hotel.

Kardashian was robbed Monday night in a small private hotel in the 9th arrondissement of Paris.

The gang held a gun to her head before tying her up and locking her in the bathroom.

They then escaped with a jewelry costing about €5m and a ring of €4m (£8.7m; $11.2m) in a jewel-box.The robbers also took away two mobile phones.

A gang of five masked men dressed as policemen was engaged in the incident.

Kardashian’s spokesman said she is “badly shaken but physically unharmed". The star gave testimonies to the police Monday morning, following which she left the country.
