Facebook added to its messenger a function of secret conversations, Facebook help center reported.

It was noted that a secret conversation in Messenger is encrypted end-to-end, which means the messages are intended just for you and the other person—not anyone else. People in secret conversations can set messages to disappear. Users can report messages for a short time after they've disappeared.

Confidential chats are noted by an icon of the lock. It is emphasized that in such chats there are many options, however, it is impossible to create group confidential correspondence. Facebook warns that it is possible to look at a similar chat only on that device from which he has been created. Also the social network has reported that function is still available not on all devices.

Secret conversations are currently available only in the Messenger app on iOS and Android, so they will not appear on Facebook chat or messenger.com. They are also only visible on the device where you create the conversation and the device the recipient uses to open the conversation.

Both people in a secret conversation have a device key that you can compare to verify that the messages are end-to-end encrypted.
