German police arrested a 22-year-old Syrian refugee suspected of planning a terror attack in Germany, capping a two-day manhunt, WSJ reported.

“We are tired but overjoyed,” Saxony’s state police announced on Twitter after the arrest of Jaber Albakr, who had eluded capture during a police raid on his apartment here early Saturday. Mr. Albakr was arrested in Leipzig, another city in eastern Germany about an hour’s drive away.

Active searches of Albakr were carried out in all territory of Germany, security measures have been strengthened at stations and at the airports.

Jaber Albakr who was presumably connected to the Islamic State terrorist group has been wanted since October 8 after powerful explosive device was revealed in one of apartments in Chemnitz.

According to criminal police, he arrived in Germany a few months ago and received status of a refugee. His alleged accomplice was detained in a police raid of an apartment in Chemnitz on October 9.
