WASHINGTON, D.C. – Despite the change of administration, those in Nagorno-Karabakh trust in the democratic traditions that are established in the US. 

Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR/Artsakh) Prime Minister Arayik Haroutyunyan, who is on working visit to the US, told the aforementioned to Voice of America Armenian service.

“We are convinced that the established American traditions recall that self-determination of nations, or democracy, is more preferred, and overall, peace is more preferred,” added the NKR PM.

Haroutyunyan stressed that when it comes to the avenues for resolving the Karabakh conflict, the US has always tried to act based on the precepts of territorial integrity, and self-determination of nations.

“Our expectation is that they continue what they had over the course of the last twenty years, without a sudden radical change,” he noted.

Also, Arayik Haroutyunyan noted that Artsakh does not expect any major progress soon in the Karabakh peace talks, and therefore they do not see a need for deploying peacekeeping forces at the conflict zone.

“Since there are no negotiations, also this factor is ruled out,” stated the NKR premier.
