YEREVAN. – Armenia should not allow Azerbaijan and Israel to further deepen bilateral cooperation.

Founder and Director of the Armenian Institute of International and Security Affairs, political analyst Styopa Safaryan, told the abovementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am, as he commented on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to Azerbaijan.

In his words, Armenia suffered the consequences of this cooperation during the four-day war in April, when Azerbaijan made use of the drones it had purchased from Israel.

“Armenia had many opportunities for improving relations with Israel,” said Safaryan. “But we didn’t take advantage of them, since we just don’t have a foreign policy.”

As per the analyst, the deterioration of Turkish-Israeli relations was one such opportunity.

“Armenia could have reaped many benefits in this context,” added Safaryan. “But it didn’t make use of this opportunity.”

Furthermore, Styopa Safaryan expressed a view that, aside from the inaction by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, several regional factors, including the Russian-Iranian factor, also impact on the absence of relations.
