Los Angeles court declined the motion of the attorneys of the film director Roman Polanski to close the case of rape of a minor, initiated over 40 years ago. The Judge Scott Gordon read a 13-page report, stating that the defense did not present sufficient and convincing evidences for the case to be closed, reports DW. 

The judge also did not answer to the director's lawyer question about the possible terms of arrest, the 83-year-old Polanski might face, if he decides to return to the US.

In 1977, Polanski, 43, was charged with the rape of 13-year-old girl. The director acknowledged having sexual relations with a minor and was placed at a Psychiatric Hospital for 42 days. After his release, the judge sentenced him to 50 years in prison. On February 1, 1978, Polanski fled to Great Britain. In 2009, by the request of the US Justice, Polanski spent 10 months under house arrest but was not extradited. In 2015, the Polish court ruled a similar verdict.
