YEREVAN. – Within the framework of its visit to the Czech Republic, the Republic of Armenia National Assembly (RA NA) delegation, led by NA Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov who also heads the Armenia-Czech Republic parliamentary friendship group, on Thursday met with the head of the Catholic Church of the Czech Republic, Archbishop of Prague Cardinal Dominik Duka. 

The RA NA Vice President appreciated Cardinal Duka’s personal contribution to the strengthening of two Christian peoples’ relations, and expressed gratitude to the cardinal for taking part in the Prague exhibition dedicated to Armenian Genocide, the NA informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The interlocutors highlighted the preservation of Christian heritage. In this context, Sharmazanov expressed his concern over the annihilation of the Christian—including Armenian—cultural monuments in Turkey, Azerbaijan and the Near East, as well as the attempt of turning the Saint Sophia Cathedral of Istanbul into a mosque.

“Preservation of the Christian heritage in the world shall be our sacred duty,” he added.
