Leader of Republican People’s Party (CHP) Kemal Kilicdaroglu sent a letter to U.S. President Barack Obama, urging him to hinder the adoption of the Armenian Genocide Resolution by U.S. Congress.

The letter was sent when it was yet unclear the resolution had not been placed on the Congress’ agenda.

“Parliaments cannot judge history or rewrite it. The solution is the dialogue between Armenia and Turkey. The adoption of the resolution will seriously damage Turkey-U.S. and Armenia-Turkey relations,” he said in a letter, NTV reports.

According to Turkish mass media, Kilicdaroglu’s mother was Armenian. According to him, his mother could have been of Armenian, Greek or Kurdish ancestry.
