More than 50 thousand homes were left without electricity in Victoria in the southeast of Australia, in some areas of which the air temperature reached 40 degrees, RIA Novosti reports citing the channel 9 News.
The state Prime Minister Daniel Andrews said that in some areas there were problems with the distribution of electricity. They are studying all available means to get the companies to compensate the population.
According to the ABC News channel, on the night of Sunday to Monday, the air temperature in some areas did not fall below 30 degrees. According to the authorities, the sharply increased consumption of electricity caused breakdown.
According to 9 News, the electricity supply was partially restored on Monday, but thousands of people still remain without electricity.
